Emphasis

For emphasis I wanted to focus a lot on the colors and texture of the object. With that idea in mind, I decided to get really up close to it. I also wanted to keep the flash on so that it really brought out the colors of the object and highlighted the slightly raised parts. To accomplish that I chose areas that had some parts that were raised more than others, as well as photographing the inside of the object too. I feel that keeping the flash on was a good idea, because it brought out the colors and separation a lot more than they were without the flash.

Shape

With shape I wanted to try to get pictures of it at different angles and lighting to show the curves and roundness of the object. I took mostly inside pictures of it for this element, and I used my flash a lot. I also played around with some effects that are preset on it to see what would come out. Overall I thought that the inside and different lighting worked.

Texture

For this element I chose to explore how to make something look smooth or rough and how to get that idea in a picture. I decided to use a lot of nature and things found around my yard to explore this idea. I thought it would be different to place the object against rocks and wood and cactus and the walls to show the objects texture when compared to other things that were opposite of it. I also chose to do this in the middle/late afternoon because I wanted to play with lighting and see how that could also affect the way something comes across. I think that the objects I chose to use to bring out my objects texture worked out pretty well along with the natural light. I think that they helped to show rough vs smooth and so on.

Lighting

For lighting, I wanted to use as much natural light as i could because I thought that my object would photograph better in it. I chose to do middle afternoon for the pictures and mostly in my front and back yard again. I tried a few different angles and positions for this element and was actually pretty pleased with most of what I got. I think that the time of day and areas I chose worked out really well and that they had a positive affect on the object and image.
